Dedication of Fields Ceremony
On Friday,
June 11, 2010 the Ida Recreation Commission hosted a ceremony to
dedicate
and re-name two of the ball diamonds in memory of Larry Kreps III.
The following
tribute was shared with his family and teammates before the first
games
of the annual Ida Pre-Fair tournament.
On behalf of the Ida Recreation Board of Directors, we would like to take the
opportunity to express our sincere appreciation and gratitude to the family of Larry Kreps III. Larry had
a love for life and a passion for baseball. His family generously established a memorial fund with contributions
to Ida Recreation. The mission of Ida Recreation is to provide recreation that is centered around the youth
and parents of our community while promoting community involvement and continuously improving the recreation experience of
our kids.The thoughtfulness
of the Kreps family completely exemplifies this mission. This act of kindness at such a difficult time
has afforded the opportunity to create two fields which will allow many baseball players to enjoy the wonderful game of baseball.
Therefore, on this day,
we would like to dedicate the new fields 15A and 15B in honor and loving
memory of Larry. May the number he wore while playing a game he loved forever be a symbol of love, friendship,
community, and sportsmanship.
It was a beautiful
evening as the Kreps family and the newly dedicated fields
were surrounded by
all of the Ida All-Star teams.
We hope that in some way this may bring comfort
to the family of a very special young man.
He will never be forgotten.
